Energy Transition in Focus: PT Mitsui Indonesia Joins National Discussion at LSCAMP 2025 PT Mitsui Indonesia took part in a national seminar titled "Energy Transition: Generating New Energy, Nurturing New Business" on May 21, 2025. The event took place at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, one of Indonesia’s leading universities in science and engineering,  and brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and universities to discuss actionable strategies for supporting Indonesia’s shift toward cleaner energy. Representing PT Mitsui Indonesia, Mr. Ihsanul Afdi Yunaz, Director and General Manager of Energy Division, shared about Mitsui’s global energy transition initiatives such as promoting next-gen fuels, clean ammonia, also CCS (Carbon, Capture and Storage) and CCUS (Carbon, Capture, Utilization and Storage) initiatives. He joined a panel discussion with a theme of "Technology Roadmap and Business Opportunities for Supporting the Energy Transition Agenda in Indonesia", alongside speakers from PLN (Indonesia's state-owned electricity company) and Impaccto (a renewable energy company), respectively. Mitsui has completed a review of its material issues (materiality), which define our key management priorities for contributing to a sustainable society while driving long-term corporate value. These issues are closely aligned with our Mission: “Build brighter futures, everywhere.”   First identified in 2015 and updated in 2019, this latest review reflects the evolving global environment and shifts in stakeholder expectations. We adopted a double materiality as a key criteria—examining both how our operations affect society and how social and environmental trends may impact our business.   The process involved extensive engagement with stakeholders including external experts, directors, and employees. As a result, six material issues were identified and formally approved by our Executive Committee and Board of Directors.   The review confirmed the continued relevance and importance of our existing five issues, but we have added “human rights” as a standalone material issue reflecting its growing importance and making more explicit our responsibility and commitment to respect the dignity and rights of all individuals across our value chain. Human rights have always been a foundational principle for us and was before part of the broader issue of ‘Enhance Quality of Life’.   We will continue refining our materiality framework as part of our efforts to remain responsive, transparent, and aligned with the expectations of a rapidly changing world. Osaka, Japan is gearing up to host the World Expo 2025, an event that convenes countries, private firms, civil society groups and non-governmental organizations every five years to discuss and find solutions to pressing global challenges. Held over six months from 13th April to 13th October on the man-made island of Yumeshima which measures 155ha and spans about the size of 220 football fields, Expo 2025 will see pavilions and exhibitors from 158 countries and regions and is expected to attract many visitors from all over the world.   To tackle the plastic waste generated at 7-Eleven stores situated at the event, Mitsui and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation have partnered up to collect and process the used plastics, including food containers and SEVEN CAFE Smoothie cups. Mitsui will establish a collection system, managing logistics such as sorting and delivery, while Mitsubishi Chemical will process the collected plastics using its plastics-to-oil conversion technology at its Ibaraki plant.   Together, we aim to support plastic recycling efforts and contribute to the advancement of a circular economy, while contributing to a clean and conducive environment at Expo 2025. Collaborun 2025, Collaboration in Every Step, Fun in Every Miles! Mitsui Indonesia hosted CollaboRun — a five km relay fun run event with the tagline "Collaboration in Every Step, Fun in Every Mile", on February 22nd. The event brought together 99 enthusiastic runners, representing Mitsui Indonesia and 13 Mitsui-affiliated companies and strategic partners. With an energetic and lively atmosphere, the run shared sense of mutual support among all involved. Our primary objectives were to foster networking and bonding among Mitsui-affiliated companies in Indonesia to strengthen One Mitsui, while on the other hand also enhance employee engagement through enjoyable activities. Additionally, we collaborated with our partners to provide a health talk seminar and some wellness booth. One of Mitsui’s affiliated companies was kindly supported the event by providing well-curated goodie bags for participants, featuring its products.
